MANDATE RELIEF: Our Position  from NYSTEA - Working to ensure technological literacy for the students of New York  (6/17/2011 12:04) 
NYSTEEA?s Official Position Regarding Mandate Relief and Commissioner?s Regulation 100.4, C, 1.  As a close-knit, passionate community of educators, we find the continued flow of recent indicators threatening both technology education?s existence and the continuation of a middle school requirement to be deficient of any logic based upon decades of education research and 21st century societal and economic needs. Straight from a number of school district administrators, professional organization officials and other credible sources, it seems that there might be yet another forthcoming recommendation to the Board of Regents to eliminate technology education as an included element of all middle school students? education.  The rationale in opposition to such a move is extensive and far exceeds any reasoning for supporting such an unfortunate decision.  Because of this,  NYSTEEA is opposed to the removal of the one unit of study program requirement for technology ed ...

MS and HS Survey Dates  from NYSTEA - Working to ensure technological literacy for the students of New York  (4/27/2011 8:46) 
Since 2004 under the direction of Chuck Goodwin, DTE, NYSTEA's Advisory Council Chairperson, NYSTEA has conducted surveys on both the middle schoool and high school technology education programs across NY State NYSTEA will be conduction its annual High School and Middle School survey again May 9 - 20, 2011. The collection of this data is extremely important to our Association and our disciplin. While you may have had your students complete the survey last year, we ask that you continue to support our efforts in this endevor. read more

The New York State Technology Education Association (NYSTEA) has found, as a result of its collected data through the administration of four separate middle school student surveys, that Technology Education is valued strongly in a multitude of categories. The survey results affirms our belief that Technology Education plays a critical role with building technological literacy, problem-solving skills, career awareness, teaming skills, inventiveness, creativity, innovation and STEM literacy among its students. read more

PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! The next time the NYSTEA Student Survey can be scheduled is between Monday May 9th and Friday May 20th. Please identify a day or a series of days when you can get your students to participate. There isn't a better advocate for our programs than our own students.
